Marketing Tips

Direct Mail

Unlike newspaper or radio ads, postcard marketing is a targeted medium that gets information about your product or service directly into the hands of an interested prospect.

The most important part of your direct mail success is your mailing list. There are many sources for lists. You can use your own list, buy outside lists or compile a list from The Yellow Pages, Trade Association guides etc. Many find they get the best results from mailings to current and past customers. They already know you and are more open to doing business with you. You can get great response rates from this kind of list.

Writing Card Copy

The rule of thumb for writing copy is simple - count to five - That's how long it takes the typical reader to decide to read your direct mail, save it for later, or toss it. That's one big advantage of full color postcards. The eye catching color image attracts attention and your concise copy makes your offer quickly and precisely. Fill your copy with the word "you"- use "we" and "I" sparingly. "Talk" to your prospect just as he was there with you- he is when he reads it.

Follow Up Cards

You can dramatically increase your profits by doing a follow up mailing to everyone who has received any marketing material from you and has not responded to it yet. Do a follow up postcard a week or so after your initial mailing. This mailing will help remind your prospects of your initial offer, perhaps your prospect is considering the offer but has not made a decision yet. The reminder card often pulls the same response as the initial mailing.

All of your marketing efforts can benefit from follow up postcards. You have made the initial investment in the promotion, the small additional cost of a follow up card improves the return on that investment and pulls in many more sales from that initial offering. We have reports from people who regularly use follow up postcards increasing their responses by 25 to 40% compared to their initial mailing only.

Targeted Advertising

There is no question, mass media advertising in newspapers, magazines, radio and television works. Many businesses rely on these media for their very existence. Recently however many business owners are finding that targeted marketing is getting a specific message to a specific market brings in better results for far less money.

Postcards are ideal for targeted mailings. The low cost of the postcards themselves and the lower cost postage allow you to reach many more real prospects for the same dollar amount. In addition to that you will find that a postcard gets read. Today the mail is full of special offers, you need to get your prospect to see your offer before they can act on it. Many mailings in envelopes never even get the opportunity to be read. It is easy for you to send postcards, but more importantly it is easy for your prospect to notice and read your offer on a beautiful full color postcard.

You probably have a customer list and prospect list already. This is the best list to use to send a special offer very inexpensively using full color postcards. The high quality of the full color cards helps maintain or improve your image at a very reasonable price.
